Ching ching fan 2

My mum got discharged from the private hospital and she is now back at my place in PJ resting and hope she will recover fast. At the moment is really weak and she needs the assistant of her new walking chair.

During my stay in Ipoh I was introduced to this amazing simple ‘Cheng Cheng Fan’ or called Weighted Rice because every spoon of food placed on the serving plate is being careful and unconsciously weighted.

This stall is located at Jalan Foo Wah Cheng, Falim, Ipoh along side of an old semi wooden long houses. In the morning the stall sells it’s famous known small fish balls “Sai Sai Yee Tan” as you can easily eat about 30 -50 of them and still can consume and wanting for more. During lunch time, the stall sells this weighted rice.

This weighted rice consists of basic rice topped with an omellete, sitr fried bak choy, lightly steamed beancurd, homemade BBQ pork ‘Char Siew’ and a piece of wanton. Every single rice toppings are so refinely done, it may looked simple but yet it tasted really delicious.

It was a real suprised to find such a delicious served rice, simple, refine, not oily, light and most important it was very tasty. If you want to taste the food at this stall be sure to arrive early as it can be very busy and the waiting time can be long . . . . . . . something new and enjoyed in Ipoh, Sidney Kan.

that rice has me drooling. I guess they weigh everything that goes on there because the balance of the flavors is important. I hope your mom recovers easily!

The food prepared here is simple with the right balance (not too light and not too over powering), the food end up being delicous and tasty. You will find a lot of people brekfast’ing and lunch’ing here and some with big cars too. The owner drives a BMW! amazed! :)
