The Malaysian International Fashion Alliance (MIFA) heralded the return of Malaysia International Fashion Week 2009 (M-IFW’09) by announcing Andrea Fonseka as the Face of M-IFW’09 at an inaugural party held at Aristo, Zouk recently.

According to MIFA Chief Executive Officer, Syeba Yip, the said event was the first in a series of exciting parties aimed at building up the excitement among avid fashion followers, sponsors and event partners in the run-up to M-IFW’09 which will be held from November 4 – 8, 2009 at the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

Syeb Yip continued, “MIFA is pleased to welcome back Andrea Fonseka to the Malaysian fashion scene as the Face of M-IFW’09. Her sterling achievements and versatile talents transcend the fashion and entertainment fields in Malaysia and Singapore. Besides being a highly sought-after model, she is now a TV host and an actress to boot.”

Inherited Recipes : Deliciously Hot Green Chicken

It had been a great Saturday, I had been eating and been cooking non-stop this evening for some friends at my studio. So what did I cook, , , , , you may ask? Well I did some recipes that I inherited from my late dad which are amazingly fabulous that can rock your taste buds . . . . . Don’t believe me, do try it yourself . . . . simple and amazingly presentable inside and outside the kitchen. One of them is the this deliciously hot Green Chicken with a fragrantly smell of laksa leaves, seasoning taste of ocean sundried shrimp, a thick sauce of fresh coconut milk , a hint sourness of refreshing lime and the fury hot green bird eye chillies.

Yet another few simple appetising dishes set on the table were the tamarind beef with salted fish, steam garupa fish with mashed ginger, garlic and superior sauce, baby kailan topped with oyster sauce and pan fried garlic . . . follow up with my dessert, moist chocolate cake drizzle with duche de leche.

The Art of Making Mooncake with Big Boys Oven

Two weekends ago Big Boys Oven team had a mooncake making session at Yishensu, One Utama Shopping Mall with our new Talent on Board, Mrs HT Wong and Yishensu is considered to be one of the pioneer in commercializing vegetarian dining restaurant in Malaysia. On that day, I also baked a vegeterian cupcake recipe and will be posting it later.

REVERSE APPLE TART – Big Boys Oven Sweet Dessert

An apple a day keeps the doctor away had triggered me into baking this lovely apple tart. Every time I visit the night market around my area I always able to find the abundance of this lovely juicy green apples. Therefore they had become my specimen this time as of it’s miracle values. I still able to recall how wonders it had effected Robb of Nuffnang. Robb went through this miracle green apple diet and had himself trimmed fit! If you meet Robb do check out with him.

I usuallly buy them in bulk and consume them in liquid form using my kenwood juice blender but this time I decided to explore having them as sweet dessert, I had it a tarty way! 😉 This is what I did with them.

This 8th August, Sunny Yaw will be hosting this event and together with Mrs HT Wong, they will be sharing some of their baking secret with you. Both very experience and talented chefs and will be embarking into the journey of vegeterian, understudying the Citrus Nutty “Ng Yan” mooncake and cake making.

We have tasted the first batch of this mooncake at Mrs HT Wong R&D kitchen in Ipoh. They were awesomely delicious and full of aroma, infused with dry pumpkin, lots of almond nuts, sweet ginger and many more hidden ingredients that you will learn in this class. It was at the right sweetness, less sugar and suitable for the young and old. In the second session Sunny Yaw will share his experience with you on the making of a vegeterian dessert!

A Close Encounter With Chef Zoran Djumic of Dubrovnik Restaurant – Solaris Mont Kiara

In conjunction with its first year anniversary, Dubrovnik had hosted a special cooking demostration on Croation food to food tasting and I was one of the lucky ones that got an invitation to indulge on their new menu.

All the sumptuous recipes are the wonderfully innovative creations of Croatian Head Chef Zoran Djumic who has grown to love and know the Malaysian market well since moving to this country 12 years ago.

I suppose the beef noodle shop is the one which overlooking the new half built bridge in JB town. I am beef noodle fanatic and have eaten in fame places like Bangkok, New York (Vietnam style), Melbourne, Hong Kong and more in KL. This JB one, is the best among all. My only fear is that the owner may quit soon due to age.
