It had been sometime now that I had not been updating my blog but I am sure you would have caught me on my facebook (Sidney Kan). For a simple reason I had left my professorship and had been on light travelling. The destinations that had my foot marks were Langkawi, Bangkok and Jakarta. It was not soul-searching but rather a free and easy travelling. Seeing and eating were my objectives.

Back to this post, yet another favourite food tasting of mine I had recemtly. This time I caught up with a fantastic Master Dim Sum Chef Yoon Kong Thye who is based at Lai Ching Yuen Chinese Restaurant. He is a truly an artisan on what he creates best, a fabulous outstanding Dim Sum. Here, I got to confess that I had a fabulous time when I get to meet up with him at his open designed kitchen. :)

Awesome Value RM27.84 Dim Sum Buffet at China Treasures SDCC

Dining

I alway adore dining here at China Treasures, great decor and the food is lovely. I also notice that their lunch can be very busy even during the working days. Recently I was invited by China Treasures and Everyday.com.my to try out their dim sum a la carte buffet which showcased a total of 48 different types of variation ranging from steamed, deep fried and even braised. Since China Treasures is a halal restaurant, I always bring muslim friends over to dine with me occasionally.

Delicate Dim Sum That Wooed My Heart . . .

DSCN9157A

It was time for lunch and I was at Pavilion meeting up with Sunny, decided to have Dim Sum. I still recalled my friend, Shirley who had been telling me so much about the delicious Dim Sum at Tai Zi Heen, Prince Hotel. As since the place was just behind Pavalion and without wasting any seconds and to fill my hunger, I dragged Sunny to try out the Dim Sum.

Tai Zi Heen looked perfect place to be, a sure relaxing place to dine. As we sat down, the chinese tea was poured and the menu was handed for us to select and make the ordering. Here were the Dim Sum we had . . .

This Dim Sum really surprised me indeed and you may ask why? I got to confess that whenever I ordered my Dim Sum, I will never do without “Siew Mai” (Pork Dumplings). As Tai Zi Heen is halal, and to indulge a “Siew Mai” can be unimageable but I was totally wrong. . . . I ordered steamed chicken and shrimp dumpling with fresh scallop and black pepper “Siew Mai” was truely a heaven. It was very moist, tasty and you can bite into the crunchiness of the shrimps . . . I can defintely imagine my day.

Hong Kee Dim Sum, Petaling Jaya

If you are around Petaling Jaya area during the weekends, Hong Kee Dim Sum is the place to be and to have your Dim Sum breakfast. Hong Kee is located at SS22, Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya. I also came to know few food bloggers are going crazy with Hong Kee Dim Sum. As for me I would say Hong Kee Dim Sum is above average.

I got to say I adored this one, “Loh Mai Kai” (Chicken, chinese mushroom steam with glutinous rice). So delicious and just the right recipe!

“Hor Yip Fan” Glutinous rice in lotus leave also one of my favourite. It is similar to “Loh Mai Kai” but with the present of egg yolk, the taste had been really enhanced tremendiously.

“Siew Mai” (meat dumpling) is lovely too. I love those meat texture and so juicy!

“Har Gaw” (shrimp dumpling) is not too bad but prefer that the shrimp be more meaty. The skin was not too thick which is good.

“Woo KoK” (yam dumpling) is great too but I still adore Bidor’s Pun Chun yam dumplings.

The deep fried beancurd sheet with shrimp filling is one of my favoutirt dim sum all the time beside the “Har Gaw”. I love shrimps!

As for this one, the deep fried pastry with shrimps was not my cup of tea at all, I was totally let down as it was not prepared properly. It would had been a fantastic dim sum but due to the oil collected, makes the pastry turned soggy.

Oh! dessert is our specialty but we truely enjoy this two pastries, the sesame ball pastry was good and the egg tart was so marvellous.

So what are we waiting for, let go to Hong Kee for Dim Sum . . . . Sidney
