The Nameless Noodle Signboard

Tucked along a busy street of Jalan Cheras near the junction of the PGRM building we found the nameless Hokkien Noodle stall located at Ming Heang Hui Coffee Shop. It was an after event at PGRM that got us hunting for this midnight supper just across the road. Stood right at a corner in a quiet lane came the blasting sound of gas furnace fuming with awesome pungent smell of “wok hei”. The place itself was totally crowded at that moment of our arrival of this old boys school coffee shop and people was eyeing for empty table just like a flock of deadly hunting vulchers.

Fried Whole Crab with Rice Noodle

What most every time I past through the Klang toll I would imagine myself sitting down for a jolly good porridge, Yes de’porridge and not Bak Kut Teh. A true surprise and yet Klang churns the best Bak Kut Teh. But it is not an ordinary porridge but it is something totally different, it can just knock your heads off. The porridge here infused with superior stock, rich dark sauce and infused with thinly sliced dry squid, petite dry shrimp, small cubes of dry beancurd and also small diced yam. One of the most tasty porridge in town, and so affordable.

The tables were nearly fully occupied when we arrived and we decided to have the outside table, bright and yet good for photography. We ordered a light lemongrass iced drink and also the three layers iced tea. Refreshing and a true cooler!

Yup! I am back in Ipoh for Chinese New Year. Reunion dinner is important and I hope everyone gets to dine with their love ones. This year again we are back at the Oversea Restaurant for another splendid eight course dinner. The food this year still maintained well, not bad at all.

Having dinner with my mum’s family is a yearly thing without fail. Everyone is back from their places, a cousin of mine was back with his family from Kota Kinabalu, another family came back from Johor and so was sister back from Singapore. As usual we started toasting the Yee Sang, it was very traditional and simple Yee Sang with slices of fresh water fish.
