Red Snapper Fish and Pickled Mustard Soup

Fish Soup

Pickled mustard soup had been playing in my head for ages and this time I got the chance to make one. My parents usually used roasted pork bones as the protein for this type of soup but I preferred a more refreshing sweet in taste, therefore I used red snapper instead. Here I had the fish portioned, cleaned and deep fried to give the broth a better bolder taste and a better biting fish texture.

Recipe Black Chicken and Coconut Soup

A Pressure Cooked Soup Recipe

Coconut Soup

This soup is amazing and really tasty. The buzz of coconut water truly turn me on. Why? well . . . during my stay at the university one of my superior informed me that by drinking young coconut water it can chill down the body heat and works naturally. So that is why I choose coconut water as one the major ingredient for my soup this time. This round I use black chicken instead of spare ribs. As for natural sweetness, I used dry fig and dried longan.

Hairy Gourd Soup with Pork Ribs, Dried Figs, Red Dates & Wolfberries

Soup

Had been away since the beginning of Hari Raya Holidays and got back home on just Tuesday. Had a great time meeting up with friends over food at Teluk Intan and Sitiawan. During the trip I managed to taste a variety of food such homemade three generation fishball, the famous Chee Cheong Fun, Glutinous Rice and many more to speak of (most was live spoken on facebook). While been back in my home, I decided to brew this healthy soup using hairy gourd with spare ribs, dry figs, red dates and wolfberries. The outcome was really encouraging as I also add in some dried longan to fragrant the soup. The soup taste sweet and light while the longan gave the soup as darker brown color.

Recipe Black Chicken Soup with Chinese Herbs

Black Chicken Soup

Having the grocer near by can be such a handy thing to have. Such a damn convenient thing to have. A short drive and pick up your stuff fresh, having them cooked instantly is indeed something remarkable. This time I pick up the Black Chicken, petite as it is compared to a whole chicken. Here it was tucked nicely in the cold shelf. It is difficult to resist of not taking it back for a soup feast. Having some dry Chinese roots stashed nicely in the fridge is a must as it can so handy at all times. A bit of each can create a tasteful bowl of delicious warm soup and I just did that.

Recipe Baby Pork Ribs with Taucu Bean Paste

Baby Pork Ribs with Taucu Bean Paste 2
Baby Pork Ribs with Taucu Bean Paste

I love this dish, it is really nice especially with the present of the aroma of taucu bean paste. I cooked this dish using the pressure cooker and found the sauce retained inside the pot. Therefore I would recommend to reheat it on the stove to reduce the sauce (to thicken the sauce). I think it will be even nicer. The sauce from the pressure cooker itself it also damn tasty too. Another good dish executed perfect, nearly there . . . . . . Sidney Kan

Recipe Pressure Cooking Tamarind Chicken

Tamarind Chicken with Philips Electric Pressure Cooker

Wanted to have something sour, sweet and fragrant for dinner and I found those great ingredients combination just right inside my fridge. And having a pressure cooker comes handy, you can chuck them in at a go and start the cooking with a flick of a button. (two buttons to be exact). My tamarind chicken came out just nice as I wanted it to be. Sweet, sour and fragrant. Here I use Sakura chicken as I like the meat biting texture but normal chicken can do the task easily, just my preference. One more thing, there will definite be a lot of sauce at the end of the cooking, take some out and had it reduced over the stove within no time and pour the reduce sauce onto the chicken and serve.

Smells good, looks good definitely taste good !
