Recipe Black Chicken and Coconut Soup

A Pressure Cooked Soup Recipe

Coconut Soup

This soup is amazing and really tasty. The buzz of coconut water truly turn me on. Why? well . . . during my stay at the university one of my superior informed me that by drinking young coconut water it can chill down the body heat and works naturally. So that is why I choose coconut water as one the major ingredient for my soup this time. This round I use black chicken instead of spare ribs. As for natural sweetness, I used dry fig and dried longan.

Recipe Hairy Gourd Soup

Hairy Gourd Soup with Pork Ribs, Dried Figs, Red Dates & Wolfberries

Soup

Had been away since the beginning of Hari Raya Holidays and got back home on just Tuesday. Had a great time meeting up with friends over food at Teluk Intan and Sitiawan. During the trip I managed to taste a variety of food such homemade three generation fishball, the famous Chee Cheong Fun, Glutinous Rice and many more to speak of (most was live spoken on facebook). While been back in my home, I decided to brew this healthy soup using hairy gourd with spare ribs, dry figs, red dates and wolfberries. The outcome was really encouraging as I also add in some dried longan to fragrant the soup. The soup taste sweet and light while the longan gave the soup as darker brown color.

Recipe Black Chicken Soup with Chinese Herbs

Black Chicken Soup

Having the grocer near by can be such a handy thing to have. Such a damn convenient thing to have. A short drive and pick up your stuff fresh, having them cooked instantly is indeed something remarkable. This time I pick up the Black Chicken, petite as it is compared to a whole chicken. Here it was tucked nicely in the cold shelf. It is difficult to resist of not taking it back for a soup feast. Having some dry Chinese roots stashed nicely in the fridge is a must as it can so handy at all times. A bit of each can create a tasteful bowl of delicious warm soup and I just did that.

Recipe Baby Pork Ribs with Taucu Bean Paste

Baby Pork Ribs with Taucu Bean Paste

I love this dish, it is really nice especially with the present of the aroma of taucu bean paste. I cooked this dish using the pressure cooker and found the sauce retained inside the pot. Therefore I would recommend to reheat it on the stove to reduce the sauce (to thicken the sauce). I think it will be even nicer. The sauce from the pressure cooker itself it also damn tasty too. Another good dish executed perfect, nearly there . . . . . . Sidney Kan

Arrowroot Soup with Pork Ribs and Peanuts

Walking through a wet market can be truly exciting. Looking at the ingredients on sale at each stall can be a discovery. What caught my eye at the SS17, Petaling Jaya morning wet market was this arrowroot “Fun Kot” that looks similar to tapioca. Arrowroot is use make to powder and used as thicken agent in cooking. I had tried this arrowroot in a soup dish and it tasted really nice. Without any hesitation, I bought one and decided to make a go with it in my kitchen.

The Black Market Kampong Pandan

Black Market 9

Visited this newly opened outlet with my foodie buddy called The Black Market locate right at the end corner of Jalan Tun Razak heading towards Kampong Pandan. Looked rather interesting as some of the deco is flushed with metal looked just like a warehouse especially when you are greeted by am huge industrial auto-sliding door before entering the dining hall.
The wall of the dining room was painted black while black leather seats dominated the whole space. Got to note here, during the night this place do have a fabulous cosy atmosphere, can be very romantic.

Individual Hot Steaming Basket Set Meal – Steamed Minced Pork Patty with Salted Fish

It had been for a while I have not been into this restaurant but I was fortunately to find my way into it’s dining area one evening just recently. I just love some of the dishes available here that truly understand what a client needs, something I had before but once lost over the years. Yes dishes that my mom and dad used to cook in their petite kitchen.Simple yet nostalgic dishes like steamed minced pork with salted egg yolk truly grasped my heart winning over and over. I can easily have it with two or even three bowls of white rice, at least wo of them might just be eaten with it’s salty yet fishy relinguished sauce. Therefore I guess do not need to say much about this salted fish with minced pork dish, you ust need to try it yourself. I bet you will be like me.

Luscious Smoked Duck at Four Seas

Dining at the Chinese here in Kuala Lumpur can be so easily sorted but finding a good one can be a slight task. But here I am having a fantastic and wonderful time indulging a fabulous Chinese gourmet with one of Malaysia most famous food writer Tan Bee Hong, photographer Khoo Su Ting and owner of Four Seas Edward Soo. The first dish the Smoke Duck itself did all the introduction. Smells good. Tasted so brilliant. Got me excited Got us all excitedly with such a bundle of joy. Pink. It was pink. I can’t imagine the smoked duck was slow baked over mustard, garlic and honey. It was such a beauty. . . . . soft in texture, intense with flavours. We were left raving for more. Definitely a must have dish if you are planning to dine here.
