Peking Duck Chef Craving
Carving the Peking Duck with Chef Wong Lian You

I was truly excited with the Tao, one of the latest opening Chinese restaurant in town. Tao found it’s way at The InterContinental Hotel right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur along Jalan Ampang. The interior was filled with black shaded cabinets that filled with a variety of Chinese teapots while one corner of the bright glass wall was filled the painted sakura flowers. I got to compliment Tao for having such a beautiful showcase ceiling lightings as the main centre piece.

Breakfast at Mai Samui Resort and Spa Koh Samui

breakfast at Mai Samu9

Just love my recent stay at Mai Samui Resort and Spa, the island of Koh Samui. A four days and three nights stay was just barely enough, wish it was longer. Defintely a place to be free, no hassle and rain with peaceful pleasure. During my stay at the resort, I was amazed with the breakfast served. It starts serving as early at six in the morning.

Sweet Indulgence on The Net

About two weeks we got an email from a journalist, Gabey Goh wanting to do an interview with Big Boys Oven and we accepted it right away without even thinking. The interveiw was done via email where we had to complete the questions given. The week after we arranged to meet Gabey over dinner at New Farmosa as it was a great meeting point and we were so nervous . . . meeting a journalist is not something we don’t do at all. So Sunny decided to bake some dessert for the night, the chocolat au durio gateaux and durian pancakes.

When we got to the restaurant, guests were already there, Adian(the founder of foodstreet.com.my) and his guests, Simon Seow, Gabey and her photographer Fitri. “Hi Gabey! How are you? Great to meet you”, . . . . . . that was the first sentence came straight from my mind . . . . .wow! we are meeting the journalist, she was a really nice and very friendly . . . . and we were not frozen at all instead we were melted like an ice cream on a cone . . . we felt so at home, we chatted and we felt like knowning her for a long time, that how this journalist was, Gabey Goh.

Then came our hostess and owner of the restaurant, Madam Jeanie, I got to let you know, she is really a great host, friendly and very accomodating. Oh, by the way Madam Jaeanie had been hosting cooking show in the local TV station and also invovled in the production of cookery show plus also a celebrity chef herself too. Got a secret to tell you, we like her very much . . . :)

That night we had a banquet dinner and as to the end of the dinner, we had a photography session with Fitri. The night ended fruitfully and thanks to Aidan for arranging the dinner. Below is the article written by Gabey published by the Malay Mail recently.

The Best Apong at Jalan Burma, Penang

Apong is a type of pancake that you can get in Malaysia. Strangely I am not an Apong fan but now I desire and crave for them so much that I search for them in the country, wherever I go.

Penang island….. is a place for Apong?… truely it is… The Apong Heaven,….. so fluffy, so creamy, so light, so soft and yet with the taste and a hint of sweetcorn and ripe juicy banana.

You can find these two Apong stalls just at the roadside of Jalan Burma, Penang and it is only RM0.30 (US0.10) a piece……. such a bargain for such lovely dessert. This Apong can be taken while they are warm and cold but I really prefer when there are warm….. so soft and so creamy, lovely as it melts in your mouth. I would say they are goes well with a cuppa of tea or coffee.

At each batches, nine Apongs can be generated from the moulded pan and takes about 5-6 minutes to ready. Therefore if you want to taste this heavenly delicious Apongs, you may need to place order them in advance or even mobile them, if not you may need to wait half an hour for yours. I was shocked when most customers order at least twenty pieces at a time…….lol…. we ordered thirty pieces!…lol

If you are in Penang Island , do not miss this lovely pancakes…. my truely heaven!
