Recipe Pressure Cooking Tamarind Chicken

Tamarind Chicken with Philips Electric Pressure Cooker

Wanted to have something sour, sweet and fragrant for dinner and I found those great ingredients combination just right inside my fridge. And having a pressure cooker comes handy, you can chuck them in at a go and start the cooking with a flick of a button. (two buttons to be exact). My tamarind chicken came out just nice as I wanted it to be. Sweet, sour and fragrant. Here I use Sakura chicken as I like the meat biting texture but normal chicken can do the task easily, just my preference. One more thing, there will definite be a lot of sauce at the end of the cooking, take some out and had it reduced over the stove within no time and pour the reduce sauce onto the chicken and serve.

Smells good, looks good definitely taste good !

Restaurant Teo Chiew Ipoh

Restaurant Teo Chiew Ipoh

A drive from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh is not a difficult task, head to the North South highway and within 2.5hours you will land yourself in Ipoh. I did this yesterday and head right away to this place called Restaurant Teo Chiew at Maxwell Road not far away from Kuala Kangsar Road and meet up with Mr Lim the owner himself. I was so lucky. Great innovative man himself, carrying an abundance of food experience while his wife heads the kitchen over nearly 20years. The two is definitely the Bonnie and Clyde of the food. Having to hear of his eating around story I was amazed. I am definitely his new crusader!

Szechuan Style Hot and Sour Wontons

A MASTERCLASS ! At The Epicure Malaysia recently Master Chef Thye Yoon Kong of Zing located at Grand Mellennium Kuala Lumpur demostrates how to make the classic Chinese Dim Sum – Szechuan style hot and sour wontons. The room was 3/4 full, participants were very focus while waiting patiently for the wontons making. I loved wanton, it was eaten even when I was a little boy. It was the ladies favourite dish making in the kitchen. It always come with the egg noodles “wontons noodle” soup and served warm.

Chef Thye Yoon Kong specialising in Dim Sum, introduced larger size of wontons during the class. It was like dumplings. Every wanton skin is filled with 30gm of solid seasoned minced chicken, chuncks of shrimps and chopped mushroom. What make this wontons so delightful? it was the special made sauce recipe created by chef himself, the Szechuan hot and sour sauce. It was very flavourful and tasty. One was truly not enough, maybe a few, it was that good.

“The Boys Ushering in The Tiger”

It had been a great start this year for us and with many more potential food projects in making. We had been eating around while ushering in the year of the Tiger and this great idea came to play in my mind for sometime now. With the help of my close buddies in the food scene we went on without stopping in order to achieve this wonderous mission, my dream is to produce photo covers with my bunch of great buddies and this Chinese New Year celebration was a great opportunity. So gathered, the camera man, the foodies and the venue! :)

The first photo we had inline was Ah Bok, Lionel and Sunny to do the Kung Fu pose, boys in action, ushering in the Tiger while we were all laughing behind the scene, it was awesomely funny! Strike a Pose!
