Buka Puasa Ramadhan at Songket Restaurant

DSC_0790

My first “Berbuka Puasa” Ramadhan feast try out this year was at Songket Restaurant featuring talented Chefs Zamri Jemintan. I just love his food and his dedication and determination in achieving a delicious piece of tasty dish. Yes, we had exchanged a feel words about his cooking and I am sure I was convinced. I like his beef rendang, very tender and yet very moist inside. Fabulous indeed, unique experience. Astralian beef was put into play. Jaded black laced squid was terrific, yet another interesting dish and my neighbour whispered, “It is chef’s most delicious dish, a must try”.

Berbuka Puasa at Istana Bambu Hulu Kelang – Ampang

1 Entrance
**The Entrance

Coming out form the end exit of the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE), I can’t help of not noticing the newly constructed bamboo cladded building on my left. It was truly an eye catching structure. It was called the “Istana Bambu”.

2 Waiting Area
**The Waiting Area

The detailing of the exterior and interior of this restaurant truly captured my heart. It was beautiful constructed. Even the walkway heading towards the pavilion was cleverly crafted out from bamboo strips. The both sides along the walkway laid a man made shallow pond came with a “padi” planting, a gorgeous setting. I felt like re-living out on a kampong scene.

Having the table set beside the pond can be truly romantic while at the long dining table it can be assured like having a humble feast here at Intai Intai Restaurant. Intai Intai meant peaking specialised in authentic mouth watering Thai cuisine and also a range of lovely Malay cuisine. The place was amazingly beautiful, serene and optimally relaxing definitely part of a hidden secret garden within the city. I am amazed with this discovery

Spread of Ramadan Buffet at Eccucino

chef

When I got home, I received an invitation card to attend a Ramadan dinner specially crafted by a well known Malay Cuisine Chef Azman Ahmad and his culinary team. In the invitation card, it said “You are kindly invited to attend a Ramadan tasting by Our Malay Cuisine Chef Azman Ahmad at Eccucino, Prince Hotel on xxth August 2008” Quickly I blocked the date on my diary.

On the day at Eccucino, I meet Chef Azman himself, great chef himself with full of personality. By the way do you know Chef Azman is famous for his fully flavoured Redangs . . . yes he is one of the top Malay Chef in Malaysia. This time Chef Azman had prepared a whole Roasted Lamb readily for carving which was the highlight of the night. Sitting next to the Roasted Lamb was Lemang and Chicken Rendang. As we moved along the food counter, his culinary chefs were busy churning out fresh chicken, beef, and fish dishes.

I was brief that the Ramadan Buffet will feature a cold selection of range salads and appetizers such as Acar, Otak-otak, Kerabu, Ulam-ulam and Serunding. As for the main dishes, there were the famous Malay Hot selection, Indian selections, Chinese selections, Middle Eastern selections, Western selection, Japanese selection such as Teppanyaki, Tempura, Sushi and Sashimi as well as Dessert selections featuring the Ice Cream Bar.

SAN REMO PASTA CHALLENGE RESULT!

DSCN0432

In February this year we had SAN REMO PASTA CHALLENGE COMPETITION whereby contestants have to come up with a local delicious recipe using San Remo pasta and we have two incredible creative winners, they are Teckiee from Eat First Think Later and Lianne from Imbi & Itchy.

teckieepastaAkerabupastaA

Teckiee’s entry is Caramelised Pork with Spaghetti Omelet and it is very creative in presenting this dish. A unique dish layered with spagehetti pancake over the delicious sweet caramelised pork. This dish can be served individually too.

Lianne’s Kampong Pasta is such a cultured dish and truely transport us back to the origin of local delicate malay cuisine. The taste of the fish in this dish is awesome, and with the freshness of the herbs and sprouts, they enrich this dish. I would describe this as a delicate pasta salad to die for.

Both of our winners will recieve each a beautiful stainless steel pasta pot from San Remo. San Remo will get in touch with you very soon. Thank you for your gorgeous recipes.

Yours Sidney
