SUNNY’S MACARONS featured on Oriental Life

It is really awesome to have read about my macarons recently featured on the Oriental Life section of the Oriental Daily Newspaper. Macarons are an awesome petite dessert, light crisp on the outside, soft as you bite in, gooey as it hits your teeth and ends with a creamy fillings to indulge. They are just an extra-ordinary in taste with a class of it’s own.

Having to able to make them at perfectly, it had taken me ages of trying, experimenting and playing within my small little kitchen. It was defintely a fun thing to do. While embarking into teaching more students into mastering this little jewels was truly my mission and having to see more growing macaron fans can be such a satifying thing to see happening right this moment in Kuala Lumpur.

I had been having a great time over the weekend although I have been struggling for time. I have been baking macarons with a great group of students of mine, some budding up coming young chefs from UITM, some were excited baby bakers and some got too interested yet excited with macarons. All of them did very well and all the macarons baked was a success, non cracks, all just perfect! You gals were awesome, now I am waiting with less stress for their home results, gosh! I am already excited, definitely my mobile and email will be flooded this coming weeks, and I hope not! :)

I was also had been busy sculpturing a two tier 50th birthday cake which came out to be gorgeous it was finished with black and red in colour. The feedback was truly positive, they like it! Then I had an australian cafe food excursion near my place and it was awesomely gorgeous. I truly love the burgers and salad yet it was so affordable. I can’t give you much details of it as Sidny will be reviewing it on his food blog soon.

Macarons Weddings by Sunny Yaw

This is yet another part of my white wedding series which transpired it into a macaron tiering. Yet I had sculptured this white tiering to house nearly about 250 macarons for a recent wedding, . . . . yes a macaron wedding! I guess this time the bride and bridegroom had gave me yet anther piece of challenge to create something different and yet wanting a gorgeous wedding cake.

I had been rather busy with sculpturing wedding cakes, discovering new desserts and had not been conducting any private baking classes lately . . . well if I were to count my fingers, it might had been more than 4 months now. I guessed I had been kept busy with other projects and I know I had been receiving a lots of inquiries through Emails and SMSs on when I will be conducting my classes . . . thank you so much for your patient waiting and this coming month of May I had finalised my schedule to make a comeback to conduct baking classes together with another pal of mine Chef Ben Beh while Chef Alex will be joining us too.

Big Boys Oven Usher in The Year of The Tiger

As for us, Sidney had just upgraded his camera from his Canon to Nikon D90 . . . hahaha this time he had a great time spending his savings but on the other hand producing good photos is a must I guess. As for me I too had been gearing up for this Chinese New Year with some great projects (will tell when the time is right) beside eating around. This weekend my itchy fingers got carry away and ended up sculpturing some sugar paste figurings, I did some tangerings and Chinese wordings to give the Chinese New Year feel and the most exciting part was, I did a couple of Tiger heads for cupcakes and cake decorations.

Mini Macaron Tower Sunny Yaw

2010 will be a great year as I had been eating non-stop since Christmas Day and lots of new project to atend to. I was wondering maybe I can put my magical fingers on wedding planning, event photographing and even a wedding reception decorating, well I guess I might be too ambitious but you never know, right. Excitiment will defintely be flourish in me if maybe someone would walk in and partnering me on opening a sweet dessert shop, well you never know, 2010 anything goes, sounds like a mysteriously interesting year.

Anyway last evening I manage to deliver a pair of mini macaron towers specially ordered by Didie as part of the bride & bridegroom’s main table deco during the wedding reception this morning. She also specially ordered 40 pieces of purple and pastel macarons as one of the “hantaran” gifts to the bridegroom during the wedding. The macarons were placed carefully in the crystal ‘dulang’ jar.

Sunny Yaw Year End Macarons

2009 had been a great introduction year for us as we have meet and made many great, kind and charming friends, new friends, students and clients. I never thought we would have reach to such a good result as we always thought it was just a dream, 2009 is definitely a year to treasure and to remember, a year that I will miss and will be longing for soon as our journey moves ahead.

This year end, I had been baking loads of macarons, believe me or not the word of macarons had been buzzing in my ear almost in the month of November and December. Even in January will be yet another macaron challenge for me, who would ever thought I would be given such a challenge, yes! I got to build macaron towers, two mini macaron towers requested by Didie and next a 2 feet tall macaron tower requested by Penny! such an intrigging challenge, it is a sure fun! :)

This 8th August, Sunny Yaw will be hosting this event and together with Mrs HT Wong, they will be sharing some of their baking secret with you. Both very experience and talented chefs and will be embarking into the journey of vegeterian, understudying the Citrus Nutty “Ng Yan” mooncake and cake making.

We have tasted the first batch of this mooncake at Mrs HT Wong R&D kitchen in Ipoh. They were awesomely delicious and full of aroma, infused with dry pumpkin, lots of almond nuts, sweet ginger and many more hidden ingredients that you will learn in this class. It was at the right sweetness, less sugar and suitable for the young and old. In the second session Sunny Yaw will share his experience with you on the making of a vegeterian dessert!
