Nameless Noodles Shop at Ming Heang Hui Jalan Cheras

The Nameless Noodle Signboard

Tucked along a busy street of Jalan Cheras near the junction of the PGRM building we found the nameless Hokkien Noodle stall located at Ming Heang Hui Coffee Shop. It was an after event at PGRM that got us hunting for this midnight supper just across the road. Stood right at a corner in a quiet lane came the blasting sound of gas furnace fuming with awesome pungent smell of “wok hei”. The place itself was totally crowded at that moment of our arrival of this old boys school coffee shop and people was eyeing for empty table just like a flock of deadly hunting vulchers.

It is awesome to able to sit in for a celebration meal with the elderly. Seeing awesome smiling faces was such a great joy. In the spirit of Chinese New Year I was invited to attend a special charity luncheon together with 230 elderly citizens and old folks. It was joint organised between Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa and the New Horizon, a Senior Citizen’s Programme under Grace Community Services. Yes not far form there (just a kilometer or two just behind Mc Donald), to be exact located at Taman Perindustrian KIP. I was lucky this time as I had a guide with me. It was a true innocent authentic Chinese dishes that I ever eating that afternoon unless it was well prepared by my grandmother, aunties or the elderly. Norman Musa meets Datuk Nicol Ann David

Norman Musa & Nicole

Hello All. Apa Khabar?

It has been a while since I wrote on this blog and I don’t know how many times I have apologised to Sidney for my lack of discipline in posting him the story. Anyway, I am back now for good so Sidney’s inbox will be bombarded with my stories (whether he likes it or not HA HA) as I have so many things to tell.

I was in Valencia the last time I wrote. Since then, many things happened and I haven’t been resting properly for a while. Only until now after I quit Formula One and yes that is true and many people would think I have given up the opportunity that some could think it is worth more than anything in the world. After all, I have been doing it for five months and I can say there is no beauty of it apart from you get to see the drivers hanging around but I am not a big fan of Formula One so I don’t get the joy of it. It sounds so glamorous and you get to travel around the world but the thing is you only get to see the airports more than the cities are unless the hotel is right in the city centre. We were fortunate enough for the places like Montreal, Monaco, Melbourne and Budapest but the others were like in the middle of nowhere. After all I have gained such a wonderful experience and during these five months I have learnt a lot and appreciate for what I have achieved to date.

Fusion with Angel Hair Pasta II

Steam Chicken with Chinese Mushroom, Salted Fish on Angel Hair Pasta

Salted fish is some thing either you hate or you will adore and eat it. As for me, oh, I will melt with them. It is something I can’t describe about. They are so unattractive, ugly and looks so aging. But if the are well pampered and cooked well, they are gorgeous, a dish fit for a king . . . like myself and yourself! My mum like to cook them with vegetable over a thick coconut gravy of curry. Trust me this is something to die for.

250gm chicken breast
5 pieces of chinese mushroom
6 thin slices of prime meat of a salted fish (mackerel “tenggiri” fish)
5 thin slices of ginger
1 Tbspn oyster sauce
1 tspn fish sauce
1 tspn dark soya sauce
a dash of white pepper
a dash of salt
a dash sesame oil
a dash of corn flour
Angel Hair Pasta

Marinate chicken, pre soaked chinese mushroon, salted fish with ginger, oyster sauce, fish sauce, dark soya sauce, white paper, salt, sesame oil and corn flour.
Steam for about 25 minutes.

Cook the angel hair pasta(to the amount desired) in a pot of hot water.
Once the angel hair pasta is cooked and drained. Top the cooked angel hair pasta with the steam chicken, mushroom and salted fish.

This is yet another simple and easy fusion dish to make. I am sure once you try those juicy chicken, you will hunger for more. Hope you like this one . . . Sidney
