The Dinosaur Cake by Sunny Yaw

The Dinasour Cake by Sunny Yaw

I love having a dinosaur. The robustness and strength never fail to inspire me, therefore I decided to sculpture a dinosaur cake using cake as its base while fondant and royal icing to give it the final sculpture touch. The colour used was kept as natural as possible. This sculpture cake took me almost a day to complete and the outcome was just terrific.. . . . Sunny Yaw

Fishing Boat Cake by Sunny Yaw

fisherman's boat 4

We thought it will be a difficult task to sculpture this cake when we received this request through email. Not knowing that Chef Sunny Yaw is raised by the port when he was young, so having the vision of a fishing boat is not difficult. Althought it was his first boat sculpture, he took the task under his wings. Having some of the sugarcraft done in advance, he left the cake task two days ahead.

Andy & Rachel’s Wedding Cake

wedding cake

I just love sculpturing wedding cakes and this recent one is a beauty. I just love the two colours used, yellow and orange: colours choosen by the bride, Rachel. Both Andy & Rachel wanted something simple and yet stands our during their wedding and the colours were specially picked. The cupcakes, I kept them simple, basic butter cream swirl in both colours topped with silver balls. Stacked them in tiers.

The bride was truly a princess with truly soft spokenly and carried herself elegantly. She loves sparkles. While the prince was charming. He loves simplicity.

Jimmy & Sherene Wedding Cupcakes | Golden Phoenix, Equatorial Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Jimmy & Shrene Wedding 2

It was three weeks before the wedding a very close friend of ours Ann called, wanting me to design her brother’s wedding cupcakes as a wedding gift. With the speed of ligthing, she emailed me the wedding photos and insisted to have the wedding cake topper too! So this time I had them designed in yellow champagne colour and handmade roses as the theme and keep them simple,  used the cake topper as the centre of attraction for that day.

Lovely Petite Flowers Over a Wedding . . .

Lovely Colors Over A Wedding Cake

I had been busy crafting this cake last week requested by a client of mine, wanted something moderate and nice for her girlfriend’s wedding. So I created a 3tiers vanilla pod lemon cake with loads of petite white flowers over a lovely champange pink fondant.

I will be facing another challenge this coming week especially on the wedding cake but cannot review it to anyone yet . . . secret project . . . see you soon I got to get back to my studio yet for another interesting bakes . . . Love Sunny Yaw

Where is the mermaid?

Before taking a shortbreak, I spend sometime wandering on what should I do with the chocolat moulds that I have. There are so many of them inside the box but what caught my eye was the seashell moulds. I had not give them a try yet and are still brand new. Therefore instead of making chocolat seashell, I decided to mould some sugar paste. I also moulded an angel with a pair of wings. With all these seashells and angels, I put them onto the fondant.

Once completing assembling them, they look so cute but the surface of the cake now looks rather empty. So I decided to make a mermaid as the centre piece of the cake and it turnout to be interesting and yet beautiful.

I also sprinkle some coloured icing sugar to make it look colorful. I hope you like this piece.
