Last weekend I had been dining continously around this area at Kampung Baru Sungai Buluh and one of them is at this fabulous hotpot restaurant by the name Xiao Lao Wang. It is a newly opened restaurant locating the previous fame LYJ Restaurant whom had moved to another nearby new shoplot. Got to say I truly like their concept of presenting another way of serving hotpot.

Appetizers – Spicy “Mok Yee” Black Fungus & Crispy Spiced Japanese Cucumber

Located in Sunway Mentari where I found this awesome restaurant that serves spice and hot dishes called Yue Yang Lou. As we were seated at the table came right away the mouth teasing Chinese tapas. Spicy “Mok Yee” Black Fungus was placed cheerfully right infront of me while the Crispy Spiced Japanese Cucumber tucked safely beside me. I go to say both was such a seductress, crunchy black fungus and crispy yet juicy cucumber.

Big Tree Lin Kee Steam Fish Head Taman Connaught

Double Boiled Old Coconut Soup
Double Boiled Old Coconut Herbal Soup

Having to return back to this eatery for a couple of times does shows it’s capabilty in preparing awesome goodness food. This one would be the well known Steam Fish Head Lin Kee, located under a big tree at Taman Connaught, just hidden on the opposite the second campus of Unversity Coleege Sedaya International (UCSI). Got to say the best part about this eatery, it was flushed behind over a row of terrace houses and locating it can be a task if you are new to this area. So asking for directing might solve the issue if it crops up.

The smell is just so irresistable, it can be detected even from miles away. Yes I was referring to the sweet fragrant double boiled coconut herbal soup. Spooning for a taste can be so inviting indeed and filled with natural sweetness from the coconut water. We just loved it. Being too greedy, we ordered two coconuts and shared within five of us. It was truly a feast!

Johor Bahru Best Bak Kuh Teh at Soon Soon Huat Restaurant

SOON SOON HUAT

Danny said,

. . . . . actually J.B is not really famous for food like Ipoh or Penang where by 8 out of 10 outlets you walk in you get satisfaction. Other than the beef noodles, plus may be the orang asli sea food , just can’t think of others. Totally agreed with Chin on these type of vanishing food stuff. Especially in KL where you hardly even get a proper wan ton mee. . . . .

An ENTRANZE into A Real Japanese Fusion

HAVING TO INDULGE THE FOOD AT ENTRANZE

DSCN6295

DSCN6280

We were back again at Entranze for a full lunch, this time we make sure we ordered our food from their menu so that we were able to taste those spoke about dishes.

DSCN6272

The first thing I ordered was their Grilled Salmon Fish Head with Teriyaki Sauce. I loved this particular part of the fish especially those, Salmon and Garupa. The Salmon fish head served was awesome, no fishy smell, and yet the texture of the meat was firm and went well to my liking. The grilling was perfectly done and sure able to taste the present of sake and black pepper, so well marinated. While pricking into the fish with the pair of chopstick and dipping it into the terriyaki was such an awesome experience, it just melted in my mouth with the unique taste of the terriyaki.

DSCN6274

Next came this dish called Gyu Shoga Yaki (Pan Fried Beef with ginger sauce with japanese onions). The beef was thinly sliced and stir fried. The taste was good, simple and with an influence of Chinese.

DSCN6284

We also had pan fried chicken with chef’s special made sauce. It was gorgeous but I got to say I was so into their side salad as it was very awesome delicious.

DSCN6301

Yet another well prepared yasai tempura (vegetable tempura). The vegetables were deep fried till crispy and sure had won my heart, we just can’t get enought of it.

DSCN6305

DSCN6313

Gosh I spotted this . . . yuzu liqueur, it was awesome, low in alcohol but the taste of yuzu was not as strong as I would prefer but still taste fantastic.

DSCN6329

These homemade ice creams were a real knocked out, they were such a babe, there were Ms Kurogoma(black sesame), Ms Shirogoma(white sesame), Ms Matcha(greentea) and Ms Wasabi. They tasted soft, creamy, less sweet and something I would love to take home.

DSCN6306

Wow! We get the chance to meet up and chit chat with the Chef himself who had prepared our lunch, it was an honour, thank you Chef Tony Wee of Entranze.

This is a place I will be back for more!
