When I saw ISSAYA SIAMESE CLUB Bangkok’s Massaman promotes it’s Lamb Shank on facebook it got me excited. Well I just love the food creation at this gorgeous restaurant located in Bangkok. Yes I had tried them out early quarter of this year and their food is just absolutely delicious. Chef Ian ‘s unique 10 hours slow-cooked Massaman Lamb Shank looked so perfectly. By looking at it you know you want to taste it and I will when I get to Bangkok. Looking through my little library I found a Massaman recipe hidden in the Blue Elephant Cookbook and I decided to give it a try. I recreated the Massaman paste but I improvised on the lamb shank as their was cooked with diced lamb.

It had been sometime now that I had not been updating my blog but I am sure you would have caught me on my facebook (Sidney Kan). For a simple reason I had left my professorship and had been on light travelling. The destinations that had my foot marks were Langkawi, Bangkok and Jakarta. It was not soul-searching but rather a free and easy travelling. Seeing and eating were my objectives.

Back to this post, yet another favourite food tasting of mine I had recemtly. This time I caught up with a fantastic Master Dim Sum Chef Yoon Kong Thye who is based at Lai Ching Yuen Chinese Restaurant. He is a truly an artisan on what he creates best, a fabulous outstanding Dim Sum. Here, I got to confess that I had a fabulous time when I get to meet up with him at his open designed kitchen. :)

NO. 10 – The Grill 582 at Best Western Premier Dua Sentral

The year of 2012 was a very promising year for myself as it was the year of the discovery new eatery and also invasion on new food outlets especially i Kuala Lumpur. I guessed rating can be a difficult task but some how I managed to pack in my own Top 10 list. Stumbled into new place can enchanting act but having to walk into a new venue can also be rather tricky thing to embark on. As for my No. 10 it was such a great finding through a friend who took the energy to drag me to visit this eatery and having ended up being charmed till speechless. It is called the Grill 582 at Best Western Premier Dua Sentral and specially taken care by fabulous charming Chef Jaffery Othman. I was totally charmed by it’s wagyu, done in perfection while the ambient took my heart away. Definitely a must try !

I just love the arrival of the Chinese New Year festival as it is the time that I get to taste delicious delicates specially for the festive. My first Chinese New Year feast was at Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant and we firstly embarked with with toasting the Loh Sang. Here at Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant we graced the night with a tremendous delicious fruit Loh Sang. The dish itself was so colourful and so easily spotted. It had a variety of finely sliced fruits such as dragon fruit, jambu, melon, carrot, pickled ginger, onion, daikon and many more to name on the list. The platter was accompanied with five spice powder, crackers and a delicious homemade sweet sauce to complete the whole recipe. We went toasting and shouted loudly to welcome the new year in hoping to bring us luck, prosperity and joy ! Got to say every bite into the Loh Sang was such a treat and defintely suited well for any one especially those who are vegeterian.
