New Individual Set Meal Paradise Inn Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall

Individual Hot Steaming Basket Set Meal – Steamed Minced Pork Patty with Salted Fish

It had been for a while I have not been into this restaurant but I was fortunately to find my way into it’s dining area one evening just recently. I just love some of the dishes available here that truly understand what a client needs, something I had before but once lost over the years. Yes dishes that my mom and dad used to cook in their petite kitchen.Simple yet nostalgic dishes like steamed minced pork with salted egg yolk truly grasped my heart winning over and over. I can easily have it with two or even three bowls of white rice, at least wo of them might just be eaten with it’s salty yet fishy relinguished sauce. Therefore I guess do not need to say much about this salted fish with minced pork dish, you ust need to try it yourself. I bet you will be like me.

Essense Kitchen Holiday Inn Melaka

Having a weekend break with my family can be a fabulous thing to do and ventured to Melaka. Yes we had it short, a one night stay at Holiday Inn Melaka. It took us about 2 hours leisure drive from Petaling Jaya and it was truly comfort and smooth journey. We checked in at about 1.30pm and decided to take a rest before any venturing. We were hungry too and decided to lunch at Es.sence Kitchen, a buffet restaurant located on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Well I got to confessed that their hi-tea looked really good, going at RM40.80++.

Iketeru
IKETERU at KL HILTON

IKETERU is part of the 30 finest restaurants around Kuala Lumpur participating in this year Malaysia International Gourmet Festival 2010. Definitely this sophisticated and modern Japanese setting of IKETERU instantly caught my attention and comfort was felt right away. Equip with finest chefs, moden teppanyaki station and modern sushi bar, IKETERU was truly irresistable especially on my latest dining experience. A spacious dining area with private tatami rooms can be truly comfort to enjoy a Japanese cuisine, just like what I did.

sake
A Huge Range of Sake

I am a new sake follower and having a few bottles at home is a must. As having to have a glimpse of sake available was mind blowing, it was beautiful to see. Just like a sea of sake. Marvellous especially for a drinker like myself. Another sight caught me with excitement, having to see huge jars of plum sake being brewed and being showcased in the glass cabinets caught me totally speechless. I was informed there are not readily yet for drinking as they are still very young.

Another reason of coming to IKETERU is to lay back and enjoy the dishes crafted by the well know Chef Ricky Kamiishi. His beautiful creations are most sort after by many Japanese cuisine fans in town, he is known for his bold approaches in his creation and style. He just love playing around with flavours and freshness. I am one of his huge dedicated fan.

Being born a Coutanceau means being born to cook (his father, The Grand Chef Richard Coutanceau), Christopher absorbed the culinary rigour of his father and learning from gastronomical greats like Gauzeres, Bardet, Guerard, Oudill and Ferran Aida. Throughout his three days visit in Kuala Lumpur, he will be mesmerizing us with his delectable original and modern presentation with his signature festival menu featuribng Brittany Lobster Stew with baby Vegetables 7 mushroom Ravioli, Grilled Foie Gras with Candide Mandarin & Mandarin Sorbet, Squab Pigeon with Cabbage leaves & Foie Gras, Seasonal Vegetable Casserole with truffle juice. Norman Musa Cooks Around The World with The Lotus Racing Team

Montreal 009

Hello Apa Khabar?

I met Sidney Kan at Gordon Ramsay’s filming in KL last month and he proposed to me to write for BBO’s blog and with no hesitant I agreed to do it. This is a wonderful idea. I want to share my experience cooking abroad and at the same time promoting our lovely Malaysian cuisine with my fellow Malaysians. Just in case if anyone is wondering ‘Who the heck is Norman Musa?’, well let me just tell you briefly about myself and the rest you can just Google me. I’m not big like Gordon Ramsay or Jamie Oliver or even Chef Wan but I am working hard to promote Malaysian cuisine especially in the UK where my restaurant is located. Currently I am following Lotus Racing to be the Official Malaysian Chef for Formula One Grand Prix.

MAX Rite Bites Food Fest @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

During the Max Bites Food Fest, we were brought to Frangipani which offers contemporary french cuisine, located along Jalan Changkat Bukit Bintang. In this visit we were escorted to their upstair bar which is one of the most visited bars during the weekend and downstair is where their dining area which serve comtemporary french cuisine. Looking through from the upstair, the dining area looks classy and centered with a pool.

We were served with a variety of cocktail drinks which taste very strong and bitter to my liking.

Here comes the finger food, there were served on chinese white ceramic soup spoon. Oh! This taste rather delicious, it was smoke duck served on mash potatoes. I like this, it really make me so hooked on them and I keep eating them spoon after spoon.

This is another gorgeous salmon. Such a finger salmon, comes in such a thick portion and yet so succulent. If you are a raw fish lover, this something to die for.

And here comes the dessert, meringue sandwich with thick cream and chocolat. Just superb to end the visit.

Just look how we end this visit at Frangipani, just well licked stacks of white chinese ceramic soup spoons. I hope the next time I get to taste their food at their dinning section, that would be something to look forward and to die for.

Sidney
