Here is a quick intro about me if you have never heard of me before ‘I am Norman Musa, a self taught chef born in Butterworth and now resides in Manchester, UK. I am the Executive chef and co owner of Ning Restaurant in Manchester,UK. This year I was selected as Lotus Formula One Official Malaysian Chef to travel around the world with the Lotus team to cook for the like Tony Fernandes, drivers and whole team. Last year I was a finalist for Chef of the Year Award and also finalist for the Restaurant of the Year Award. I also self published my cookbook titled ‘Malaysian Food’ edited by my business partner, Andy Spracklen marketed in UK, Singapore and Malaysia. Together with Malaysia Kitchen campaign, we are working hard to promote Malaysian food in the UK. I met Sidney Kan of BigBoysOven in May 2010 and so much excited when he offered me to write for this blog to share my experiences running Malaysian restaurant abroad and especially my movements to promote Malaysian food in the UK. A 2009 WEDDING . . . . .TEIK HONG & BEE LYNN

As to start of the New Year 2009, this wedding cake was commissioned for Teik Hong & Bee Lynn’s wedding reception and both of them flew back from abroad just to celebrate this special occasion. To beautify their wedding cake, they specially had their figurine made and brought it back with them. The figurine was so beautiful and cute.

January 2009 is an awesome month for weddings celebrations, therefore I will be spending more time in my studio creating more lovely desserts. So don’t be angry if I don’t get to post that often but will do try :) . . . . . Love Sunny Yaw

OGILVY Celebrates 60years

OGILVY held a global virtual party recently to celebrate the founding of the agency by David Ogilvy in New York on Sept 23, 1948 – 60years ago. Over 30 office throughout the Ogilvy network worldwide participated in the celebrations, commemorating David Ogilvy’s legacy and the culture he created.

As for Kuala Lumpur, I was given the task to come up with a huge cake and Idecided to bake a 5kg Very Berry moussecake cake, a strawberry mousse layer with straberry and vanilla light sponge. The feed back was good, they liked it very much. On the 6th October theSun newspaper, there was a story about OGILIVY 60 Celebration and a photo with OGILVY stffs celebrating with the Very Berry cake and candles too . . . . . . so cool!

Well it is weekend coming and I will be away to Penang to have my first baking classes and so excited about it and I will be back here next week, so take care . . . . . Love Sunny Yaw
