At recent I was invited to try out my hand on making the mooncake and watch how chefs baking them. It was truly exciting as I get to watch and finger into making a huge big mooncake at TAO InterContinental Kuala Lumpur while proceed to OneSixFive for afternoon tea and indulging the mooncakes. Happy New to all of you especially to my readers and those who supported me through rough and awesome time of my voyage ! All of you are truly fabulous. 2011 will be fabulous as there will be a lot of changes for good and better here at Big Boys Oven. We hope the 2011 direction that we are going to adopt will bring even more awesome goodies for you especially my readers, my students and my clients

2010 was an awesome year for us at Big Boys Oven even days towards the count down I was still baking and sculpturing cakes. I couldn’t believe myself every second was filled with work related activity. Here at Big Boys Oven, we had been put to test in all area, even baking a 25kg wedding cake, endless macaron marathons, engaging new talents to work with us . . . . . . I got to say it was truly fabulous.

So much happens. having my new facebook Big Boys Oven by Sunny Yaw was truly exciting. Most of my bakes are featured at my facebook. The word busy had now become a norm to me. My diary is already booked for January, Febuary & March 2011 for wedding cakes sculpture. I am so honoured too as my baking classes had prepaid bookings this 2011. Thank you so much in trusting me. I think 2011 will be truly exciting indeed! I think a big project is on the pipeline and will let you know once ready! :)

White Chocolate Raspberry Square | Big Boys Oven Sweet Dessert

This is really funny, as I have been so into what I had been doing lately . . . . baking cakes created by top patissiers. You may be laughing at me crazily but I think it is so fun as it reminds me about building sand castle on the beach when I was young. Well a least this time, my bakes can be eaten rather swept away by the wild waves. Anyway this time I found yet another fantastic Austrian patissier who had been also a traveler himself. Over the years, he had proven himself repeatedly by winning many awards in various patisserie competitions and also being a judge in many different events. Well, I am referring to the amazing Master Chef Arno Urch.

Lovely Petite Flowers Over a Wedding . . .

Lovely Colors Over A Wedding Cake

I had been busy crafting this cake last week requested by a client of mine, wanted something moderate and nice for her girlfriend’s wedding. So I created a 3tiers vanilla pod lemon cake with loads of petite white flowers over a lovely champange pink fondant.

A Report on MATCHA!

Last month we did the Matcha baking class! A beautiful and lovely cake with a taste from the rising sun, greentea or called matcha. Firstly we baked the matcha sponge which is soft and full of flavour. Whisking the eggs is essential.

After a few minutes of whisking the sponge mixture is ready to be placed onto the baking tray!

The Making of The Tartelette Macarons

We nearly miss having this class and about to drop it but someone just called and insisted that we run the class . . . . we said OK! why Not! and it turned out to be a great fun day of tart making, not the normal daily tarts but macaron tarts! We started off with tart dough making and the cream making!

Amazing Bakes!

During the last baking class, I whipped up some desserts for my students for their coffee break . . . . . . . . it was a very refreshing lite strawberry mousse . . . . in this mousse I used a lot of fresh strawberries and blended them into puree . . . . . I am not sure about yourself . . . I prefer my desserts with a deduction of sweetness . . .
