Veg Fish Farm Thai

Got very excited upon learning of my eating schedule, it stated that I need to eat up at Veg Fish Farm Thai Restaurant along Jalan Ampang – Hulu Langat. That is just terrific for a Saturday lunch and the weather was rather good for an outdoor food excursion. It was not a hot warm day but it was rather a moody day that suits a great drive out of the city and cross the green forest. It was about an hour drive out to this place from Petaling Jaya crossed over Ampang heading towards Hulu Langat village. It is about 4km from Ampang and just situated on the left of the road and very easy to notice as signboards are everywhere.

Recipe Baby Pork Ribs with Taucu Bean Paste

Baby Pork Ribs with Taucu Bean Paste 2
Baby Pork Ribs with Taucu Bean Paste

I love this dish, it is really nice especially with the present of the aroma of taucu bean paste. I cooked this dish using the pressure cooker and found the sauce retained inside the pot. Therefore I would recommend to reheat it on the stove to reduce the sauce (to thicken the sauce). I think it will be even nicer. The sauce from the pressure cooker itself it also damn tasty too. Another good dish executed perfect, nearly there . . . . . . Sidney Kan

The Residence Hotel is located right at the heart of this university campus. I got to say it did bring back a lot of sweet memory about my one year working in this campus.

Recipe Pressure Cooking Tamarind Chicken

Tamarind Chicken with Philips Electric Pressure Cooker

Wanted to have something sour, sweet and fragrant for dinner and I found those great ingredients combination just right inside my fridge. And having a pressure cooker comes handy, you can chuck them in at a go and start the cooking with a flick of a button. (two buttons to be exact). My tamarind chicken came out just nice as I wanted it to be. Sweet, sour and fragrant. Here I use Sakura chicken as I like the meat biting texture but normal chicken can do the task easily, just my preference. One more thing, there will definite be a lot of sauce at the end of the cooking, take some out and had it reduced over the stove within no time and pour the reduce sauce onto the chicken and serve.

Smells good, looks good definitely taste good !

Having to attend events that ends at late night can be tricky to find something to eat except to be present at a mamak stall. I always like to defunct on my schedule. I diverted to Chow Kit night market and surpisingly got my bamboo starfruit and something I would like to try on, a bunch of tapioca shots/leaves. The ferns will definitely to be cooked with dense coconut milk, turmeric and birds eye chili. After the buying and negotiating, it was time to have an early morning breakfast. The nearest and not so heavy indulgence would best to drop by Atan’s Nasi Lemak, just across.

Home Cooking Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leaves

Sweet Potato

Just love to use sweet potato leaves for a short and fast stir fry dish. It truly complete a fabulous meal in no time. I saw I had a bottle of chili oil in the fridge that I got from the Starhill Culinary Studio and decided to add it into my stir frying. I like the redness in the oil and it worked brilliant to light up the dish in no time. Definitely a must try dish and it is inexpensive at all.

Recipe Arrowroot Soup with Pork Ribs and Peanuts

Sidney Arrowroot soup 1
Arrowroot Soup with Pork Ribs and Peanuts

Walking through a wet market can be truly exciting. Looking at the ingredients on sale at each stall can be a discovery. What caught my eye at the SS17, Petaling Jaya morning wet market was this arrowroot “Fun Kot” that looks similar to tapioca. Arrowroot is use make to powder and used as thicken agent in cooking. I had tried this arrowroot in a soup dish and it tasted really nice. Without any hesitation, I bought one and decided to make a go with it in my kitchen.
