Salmon & Chinese Pear Yee Sang
It’s my first time here at Toh Yuen Chinese Restaurant at Hilton Petaling Jaya and this premises at recent had walk through a fabulous interior styling. It looked amazingly gorgeous, grand, luxurious and slick, definitely a place I would love to be dining in. The first dish to grace the Chinese New Year was a gorgeously platted Salmon and Chinese Pear Yee Sang. It was colourfully attractive, the sauce was amazingly delicious. The julienne of fruits, pickles and crackers gave the great story of this dish, The Yee Sang.
Braised Fatt Choy with Crab Meat Soup
The soup was rather interesting, something I don’t get to encounter with but I do like the taste and the soft texture of this soup, a braised Fatt Choy with crab meat soup. That night I had jolly good two bowls.
Steamed Grouper with Onion Oil & Supreme Soy
The steamed whole grouper was perfectly done and the texture was tender and smooth. With the present of the fragrant onion oil and supreme soy make the whole dish taste so good.
Simmered Chicken with Cantonese Galangal Sauce
The next chicken dish did tickle my liking. A simple simmered chicken with infused Cantonese galangal sauce. The texture of the chicken was firm and was light aromed by the present of the galangal, not too pungent.
Tiger Prawn with Chinese Herbs
The next seafood dish was the tiger prawns cooked in Chinese herbs. It was perfectly done in taste, the aroma perspired from the herbs truly enhance this dish gorgeously. I had a few and manage to tuck them nicely to my comfort zone.
Braised Top Shell with Stuffed Oyster Mushroom & Abalone Sauce
The braised top shell with stuffed oyster mushroom and abalone sauce came running over to table brilliantly. It was such a pleasant dish to have. I just love the brown sauce laced over the stuffed oyster and mushroom. It was so irresistible.
Crispy Fried Rice Noodle with Seafood
The last savoury dish was truly captivating, I just love those crispy rice noodle and challenged my thoughts. How can the chef create such a brilliant noodle dish? Rice Noodle came in style, crispy and so lovely to bite into. This is definitely a chef’s signature dish and a must order.
Steamed New Year Cake with Shredded Coconut
Osmanthus Olive with Lemongrass Jelly
To come to a close that night, we were pampered with Chef’s dessert, steamed New Year cake with shredded coconut and osmanthus olive with lemongrass. The nian goa was nice and tenderly soft in texture while the lemongrass jelly was so joyful to have. Toh Yuen Chinese Restaurant truly engraved such a joyful meal for me that night and I will definitely be back for more discovery dishes.
