I just love my recent Sunday at the Colonial Café, The Majestic Hotel over a lazy pampering Sunday curry tiffin lunch. The Colonial Café is located in the Majestic Wing and it seats 120 both indoors as well as in outdoor covered courtyards. Elegant it was, flushed over with colonial deco and came with great ambience.
The white table cloth truly sparked the elegance of my lunch while white porcelain plates dominated the table with a piece of banana leafs waiting to be filled with delicious goodies. As the drinks had arrived, the chutneys were readily served. Mango chutney, pineapple slices, fish puttu, salted egg, toasted coconut, toasted salted reanuts, marinated cucumbers and banana slices stood elegantly at the top corner of the banana leaf, the portion of rice was served at the centre.
The fish puttu was my favourite, it was light and tasted good but their mango chutney was truly stunning as the refreshing sweetness had got me hooked for more. Having the salted egg at the side truly blended delicious with their curries. Well the chutneys did perform sell that Sunday, lovely.
The Hainanese Chicken Curry looked very attractive and seductive, the bright yellowish gravy truly caught my eyes. I had my rice drenched with the gravy and it was truly addictively delicious. The chicken was cooked to perfection and tender in texture.
The Fried Masala Fish came slight red and looked very just attractive, the slices was huge too and smells terrific. I had a piece all by myself, it was luxurious in taste. Just love the spices and the aroma working through my nostril Refreshing.
Wow the mutton was exciting and came with intense of flavour of spices and taste. This Mutton Varuval was cooked to tender soft and came with a hint of sweetness that lured me to indulge more rice. If I am right I have my rice refilled twice that noon Sunday where my diet when haywire but it was worthy.
The Egg Masala was stunning, the coated sambol did the trick well. It was good and yet another dish that goes very well with white rice. It was a great dense curry sambol that just brighten up my Sunday.
The Sago Gula Melaka dessert tasted good and intensively pack with sweet flavour. The Sunday curry tiffin lunch was brilliant and we had a great time.
