Recently I attended the grand opening of Bankara Ramen at Avenue K Kuala Lumpur. The Tokyo’s top ramen specialist is finally arrives in Kuala Lumpur. The Bankara and Saibei brands have over 60 outlets across Japan and also in Bangkok and Jakarta.
Bankara’s famous “Impact Taste” philosophy was developed over 15years ago by the founder Kunano-san. Bankara offers four distinct styles of ramen, each with its own unique broth and noodle, namely Bankara Signature, Ramen from Tokyo, Hakata-style Tonkotsu Ramne, Sapporo-style Miso Ramen and Tsukemen. Guets at Bankara will able to savour the ultimate expression of each ramen style, each delivering a multi-layered taste experience achieved only through decades of striving for ramen perfection. Bankara at Avenue K has a distinctly Japanese interior drawing the inspiration from the Samurai house and traditional warehouse vaults. Having the adoring wall filled with handpainted calligraphy murals by Kusano-san himself.
For the tasting menu first came the Tsumami Menma a very typical Japanese entrement that consist of Japanese bamboo shoots tossed with Bankara fragrant oil and topped with Japanese onion. The bamboo shoots had an acquired taste to tease my taste bud while waiting for the ramen.
The accompanied Tori Karaage was divine, I always love Japanese deep fried marinated chicken. The crust was crisp and the meat was blended with great flavour. It was really perfectly cooked.
The ramen came with such a style, the bowl looked brilliant and can really seduces any ramen lovers. The Kakuni Bankara I had came with a strong flavourful intensive soup base and it was really tasty. Having it to paired with the ramen itself, the whole bowl truly turned into a perfect dish of the day. Topped with Chashu, bamboo shoots, dried seaweeds, Japanese onions and most excitingly Bakara’s signature baised pork belly Kakuni. I just love it! Definitely be back to try out more from their menu.
