Last Thursday I was invited to cook at the invitation of the Embassy of Sweden and Chef Michael Elfwing was heading the session together with the H.E Bengt G Carlson, Ambassador of Sweden to Malaysia and Ms Paula Conway of Starhill Culinary Studio. It was an exciting morning as three recipe were introduced an entrement Fish Lasagne, the main Corned beef while Swedish Buttercake grazed the dessert entry.

The Embassy of Sweden had launched its biggest culinary event ever in Malaysia, Culinary Sweden – A great Food Nation. The event is held from 12th – 22nd September 2013 and aimed at raising awareness of Swedish cuisine and to promote cultural exchange between Sweden and Malaysia.

During the 10 days event many different activities will be held:

The kick-off of the event took place at the Starhill Culinary Studio in conjunction with the event A Taste of Swedish Food. The event was attended by the Swedish Ambassador who had introduced Culinary Sweden. Award-winning Swedish Chef Michael Elfwing had lead the step by step cooking event that day. Awesome. Special guest Ms Lavin Seow the award winning actress, television host and producer as there too.

In support of the needy, the Embassy of Sweden had invited the children from Rumah Kids and Rumah Hope to a cooking Event with Chef Brain of Younf Chf Aademy. About 40 children participated at the cooking class on a Swedish menu.

Workshop Sessions on traditional and innovative Swedish cooking by Chef Wenstrom will take place at different Universities/Colleges where students learn to cook Swedish dishes.

Masterchefs Getting Ready to Cook

Look out for GRAZE, Hilton Kuala Lumpur on 18th-22nd Spetember 2013. Chef P-A Wenstrom from Gothenburg together with Chef Michael Elfwing, Executive Sous Chef of Hilton Kuala Lumpur will be cooking up a storm of classic Swedish delights.

Being part of the Sweden-Malaysia Innovative Initiative, the Embassy of Sweden together with Business Sweden and MASBA is organising the Sweden-Malaysia Innovation Dinner prepared by Chef Michael Elfwing on 19th September 2013 at th Grand Ballroom of Hilton Kuala Lumpur. The photo contest will be exhibited at this event.

The Young Chef Challenge is organised by the Embassy of Sweden in collabration with BERJAYA University College of Hospitality. The competition is to promote Swedish cuisines, allowing young chefs to feature Swedish Innovative dishes in hope to inspire more young talented chefs to be more creative and innovative.
