Break Fast with a Feast of Padang ‘Salero Bundo’ at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam

Ramadan month is one of the holiest months in the Islamic calendar. Falls on the ninth month, the sighting of the crescent moon marks the beginning of Ramadan.

During this month, Muslims wake up early to have their pre-dawn meal (Sahur) before the call for morning prayers (Solat Subuh). They will then fast for the rest of the day until they hear the call for the evening prayers (Solat Maghrib).

Muslims fast during this holy month and offer more prayers than usual. This is a time of self-evaluation and self-reflection. They seek for forgiveness and forgiving others, resist to temptations, show more concerns to their community, express their love and rejuvenate relationships with their family and friends. In order to do these, it requires high level of patience, discipline, devotion and sacrifice. As this is a period to strengthen ties with their families and friends, Muslims usually break fast together with their loved ones.

Padang cuisine is specialty of Minangkabau people from Indonesia. Famous for its rich taste of coconut milk and red hot spicy chili, Padang Cuisine is very popular in Maritime Southeast Asia. Their heavy usage of spices mixture and various dishes cooked in curry sauce with coconut milk demonstrated its influences from India and Middle East.

Traditional Padang cuisine is Mak Deli’s speciality. She and her cooks originate from Pariaman, a coastal town in West Sumatra. Mak Deli is not new for those who patronized to our Padang Delights in March, she and Reny Novianty, her daughter satisfied many diners’ cravings during our previous promotion. This time around, Mak Deli has brought with her an even bigger team to make sure our guests have a memorable break fast experience.

A variety of appetizers such as Kerabu Nangka Muda, Kerabu Ulam Raja, Kerabu Daun Selom, Keropok Emping, Kerabu Jantung Pisang, Pecal and Keropok Kulit Lembu are at the Appetizer section. If you fancy carving specials, visit our Carving Corner and try their Marinated Barramundi Padang Style and Indonesian Special Paste Marinated Roasted Whole Lamb. These carving delights are served with varieties of sauce.

For mains, Mak Deli’s signature dishes are Kembung Masak Cili Api, Rendang Daging Pariaman (Beef Rendang Pariaman Style), Ikan Goreng Sambal Merah, Dendeng Daging Basah (Fried Poached Sliced Beef), Sotong Tusuk (Skewered Squid), Sambal Terung, Ayam Pop (Fried Marinated Chicken) and a gorgeous range of ‘gulai’ (Padang flavoured curries) dishes. Other simply divine dishes are Ikan Keli Goreng Berlado, Sambal Bamboo Lala Rebung, Ayam Kalio, Sotong Masak Urap, Ayam Rendang Minang, Ayam Masak Opar, Sambal Lado Jariang, Mussel cooked with Sambal Minang Style and Bergedel Kentang Ayam, all are equally delicious.

A few other traditional typical Padang specialties like Gulai Urat Kaki Lembu, Gulai Perut Lembu, Daging Dendeng Berlado (Fried Spicy Sun-dried Marinated Sliced Beef), Dendeng Peparu (Fried Sun-dried Marinated Beef Lung), Urat Lembu Masak Sambal Cili Hijau are highly recommended by Mak Deli, named are just a few.

To offer more than just traditional Padang flavours, a range of international and local appetizers can be found at the Appetizer Counter as well. Seafood on Ice, crisp Garden Greens, Waldorf & Almond Flakes Salad, Roasted Chicken with Capsicum Salad, Russian Salad with Chicken Loaf and lots more are some of the western appetizers.

Nyonya Kerabu Mangga, Kerabu Taugeh Berkerisik, Assorted Acar, Assorted Jeruk, Ikan Masin Talang and Lemang & Ketupat with Serunding are some of the popular Malay appetizers amongst all.

The buffet also offers all-time favourite soups. Whet your appetite with Bubur Lambuk, Sup Ikan Berserai, Sup Ayam Kampung, Mimosa Cream Soup, Minestrone Soup with Pasta, Sichuan Soup, Hainanese Seafood Soup before you indulge in other local delicacies.

To please your palate, the menu changes daily. Titillate your taste buds with Rendang Daging Rusa, Rendang Tok, Lamb Shank Kurma, Tenggiri Kari Bendi, Chili Crabs, Nyonya Prawn wok-fried with Curry Leaf, Braised Hong Kong Kailan with Crispy Anchivies, Mutton Varuval and Daging Rusa Gulai Kawah Utara. Nyonya Kapitan Lamb, Sambal Sotong Petai Manis, Curry Fish Head Mamak Style, Baked Prawn with Chinese Herbs and many other are absolutely irresistible!

If you think the mains are too much to handle, tuck into a hawker fare such as Mee Bandung, Satay, Assorted Dim Sum, Tauhu Bakar, Chicken Murtabak, Roti Jala, Sotong Kangkung, Yong Tau Fu and Blanched Cockles.

Mak Deli also invite you to try on their ‘salero bundo’ desserts like Putu Ayu, Ongol-ongol, Amang Aluo, Kolak Pisang, Risoles, Gadoak Batinta, Serabi, Bakwan, Lapeak Sagan and many more! These desserts or ‘kueh’ are simply flavoursome and definitely not-to-be-missed!

Breaking fast at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam is so convenient. Our Surau and Imam for jamaah Isya’ and Terawih prayers at level 3 allows our Muslim guests to break fast at ease without having to go far.

Priced at RM86.00++ per adult and RM43.00++ per child, the ‘Salero Bundo’ Ramadan Buffet is available at Melting Pot Café (Lobby Level) and Grand Ballroom (Level 1) of Concorde Hotel Shah Alam.

During the first 3 days and last 3 days of Ramadan month, diners enjoy 25% discount. On other days, **1 diner break fast for free with every 10 paying guests. Senior citizens above 55 years old enjoy 30% discount from Mondays to Saturdays and 50% discount on Sundays.
