A Christmas Eve Dinner at The Speakeasy Restaurant and Bar

A Christmas Eve Dinner Table Setting at The Speakeasy Restaurant and Bar
It is awesome to be back on my computer putting some thoughts away from my busy hectic schedules. At recent I attended a Christmas dinner invite at The Speakeasy Restaurant & Bar in the heart of the city centre Kuala Lumpur. I got to say it was my first time visit to this restaurant and thank to Merry, my blogger pal for the invite.
I was late by an hour due to my hectic schedule and I was lucky that I managed to taste the first course while the guests were beginning having their delicious bright orange soup. The first as the Deconstructed Caesar salad which caught my eye instantly. It was artisticly plated indeed and definitely not the usual caeser salad. I had a par boiled egg paraded standing graciously infront of me looking forever sexy, eating it is a sin but how could I not. It was really exciting especially it was eaten with smoked salmon rillet that flourish with such a delicious taste. Next to it was the sizeable rectangular crostini topped with garlic truffle butter mushroom which fumed with delight taste and smell. Intersting note, mine came with melted cheese too. As they says having a salad, salad leafs is a must and my plate seated a baby romaine flushed with delicious taste of saffron caeser aioli. Overall it was a terrific start.

Roasted Butternut and Shellfish Broth
By then, I knew I am up for a fabulous meal., Good food and fabulous wine. For me, I just loved sipping onto my first sparkling glass of Tyrell’s Moore’s Creek Semillion Sauvignono Blanc 2010. It was so delicious smooth, sweet at light and best, it was an easy going sparkling wine. It went well with the first course and can easily drink on it’s on. Next came the soup, a bright orange Roasted Butternut cooked in Shellfish Broth. It sealed my lips with such a delight. It was tasty with a touched of freshness sweet and the selfish broth makes it way into creating a strong bold piece of delighted soup. Observing the curried glaced prawns, cooked with confit fenel, scallop chips and a touch of cognac can just blow you mind instantly. Loved it as it was also paired with a glass of smooth white Tyrell’s Moore’s Creek Chardonnay 2009!
I was told that it took the chef two days to prepare my tenderlion having to go through a slow process of cooking. I had my Hickory Smoked Tenderloin served medium rare. I loved they had included portobello bread & butter pudding and had it seated next to my tenderloin soaking the juice itself, nice. Their giblet port wine gravy was just exclusively delicious, something I missed having. The terderlion was done to my request and it was tender and left juciy for me to discover. Here the dish was paired with Tyrell’s Moore’s Creek Shiraz 2009

My Medium Rare Hickory Smoked Tenderloin
As for the cod, I managed to grab a small chunk to taste from my stingy neighbour who kept raving his cod. Well, I got to say he was right. It was very moist and tender. I was told the cod when through a lot before being plated, salt soaking and even milk bath . . . . . french cooking infused? Secondly I just love their bedded of miso infused trio bean stew with crab meat. Truly excited !

YuletiIde Bread and Butter Pudding
To end the night we were exposed with house dessert, a beautifully presented YuletiIde Bread and Butter Pudding. It came with semolina, cranberries infused with lavender and topped with a nest of spin sugar. It was good as it was keep closed to the tradition! Paired with Portugal Cockburn’s Special Reserve Port.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . I was left with a nigh to remember as the food was gorgeously delicious and I found a new exciting place to dine, definitely be back for chef’s specialty, Sidney Kan
