Restaurant East of Highway at Seri Kembangan
Food always get people connected, it connects people and this time I get to lunch with some old frends and make a few new ones over a fabulous lunch at the East of Highway. It was a banquet lunch in a private dining room with a feast of treats. The line up for that noon was clearly a well crafted meal, every dish was perfectly assembled and executed. The smooth Merlot was lingering over our thirst with such an ease, I had countless helpings.
We started off with the Four Warm Platter, an entrement that consist of four elements: Braised Dried Scallop, Lobster Salad, Deep Fried Intestine with Stuffings and Pan Fried Fresh Scallop with Fish Paste. The dried scallops were braised to perfection, tender and succulently moist and laced with rich brown sauce. Got to voice out that my ultimate personally like was the thick sliced lobster meat drizzled over with thick salad sauce. Just fabulous! Then I found the deep fried intestine was truly unique, crisp on the outside and tenderly moist inside. The stuffing was brilliant. As always the best save for the last and I just did that. Slowly indulging the pan fried fresh scallop was the treat and truly gave a full satisfaction. We truly waxed clean the platter within a split second, we were definitely traeting ourself well.

“Long Shuin Hoi Sum” The Dragon Boat Sea Cucumber was just an epic and such a class. Just felt like dining like an Emperor. It was truly a well crafted boat with elegance. Refined. The sea cucumber was braised till tender and soft while maintained with a great jelly biting texture. The sauce was excellent and gave the sea cucumber a great finishing taste. Sea asparagus and mushrooms were added to intensify the flavour. I was a truly satisfied on this one, fantastic.

The Pan Fried Lamb was perfectly done to perfection. Great flavour and the meat was perfectly tender. Defintely an adoring piece of lamb.

Steamed Chinese Carp with Superior Soy Sauce
Next we had steamed Chinese crap with superior sauce. The fish was done to perfection, the white meat was sweet and kept to tender while the sauce enhance the flavour. It was truly a well balanced dish, tasty and simple.
The blue river prawns was exciting to see: huge and filled with orangy roe. It can easily seduce anyone to take one right away. It was really good.
A well tenderly grilled spare ribs was our next exploration. It was done elegantly done and it was truly delicious. The meat was really juicy and the sauce complimented the rib perfectly.
As to finish the lunch we were given a special homemade red bean puff. The puff was truly fluffy and light as whisked egg white was put into play. Great execellent texture ended with a touch of red bean. Just a perfect sweet. It was irresistable and we had two helpings each.
The puff was accompanied with a warm water chestnut soup. Nice.
It was truly a great lunch in a special private room with a great touch of well crafted Chinese cuisine. Every dish was well calcutaed with taste and texture and each dish caught me with such a great pleasure of dining. It truly left me with such a great lust of good food and the ritual of friendship on that noon . . . . . . . . Sidney Kan
