Yes another busy weekend in getting my home stuff done and now I managed some time on this early morning to do a wee bit posting. Travel to Ipoh on a weekend can be so fun. I had a stop-over at Sungkai on the way back and did a great short exploration. I had my Dim Sum-ing lunch while hauled home with the street value of RM100 worth of Dim Sum. Yes I can be so crazy but what can I do as the Dim Sums was truly heaven in this little small town. Craving, craving me!

Before I took my weekend off, I had a great buffet dining experience at Chatz Brasserie. We were spoilt over their great spread of feasting. It was truly a Malaysian cuisine featuring dishes from Malay, Chinese, INdian, Nyonya, Sarawak and Sabah.

The Sarawakian and Sabahan native tribe cuisine are specially prepared by Chef Hasbullah specially for this Ramadhan Buffet and making it so special during Berbuka Puasa. According to Chef Hasbullah, seafood and freshwater fish are staples along with chicken for the East Malaysia and the usage of sago, tapioca and spices such as ginger, cinnamon, coriander, cumin and cloves are common in the native cooking style.

One of the dishes would be the “Manok Pasoh” also known as “Ayam Pansuh”, chicken cooked in bamboo with lemongrass, ginger and tapioca leaves which is a traditional Iban cuisine from Sarawak. YOu can also noticed the “Tenggiri Semur” or “Daeng Semur” is specially created over the whole month of Berbuka Puasa, here mackerel will be cooked in coconut milk whereby it is a native dish of the Bajau-Petagas tribe in Sabah.

I also noted other indigenous dishes such as “Korok Tunduk Do Punti (Gulai Ikan Jantung Pisang)” where fish is cooked in curry with banana heart, “Rendang Rusa Sarawak” deer cooked in spiced dried curry, “Kima (Ketam Tumis Berlada)” crab cooked in chilli paste, “Sambal Udang Lengkuas” chilli prawns with gelangal and “Taladah Ah Rendang’ are some of the dishes found on this occasion.

The Malay “kampung” style of cooking will definite fiond its way to charm us. I was totally foodic hynoptised! Offerings such as “Lemak Putih Jantung Pisang” banana heart cooked in coconut milk, “Dendeng Daging” beef jerky, and gulai kawah are making their way through this Ramadhan at Chatz Brassirie.

I was totally full of lust when I was satay-ing and next was the whole irresistable Barbequed lamb. I got to say their barbequed fish (Ikan Bakar) was deliciously prepared. Besides that I managed to scoop into the Briyani Rice which the next stall was featuring cuttlefish with “kangkung” while piping hot steamed dim sum on parade. There was also freshly made Apom Balik while a range of delicious and tempting traditional Nyonya and Malay style kuih on showcasing and not forgetting their ice-cream counter, a must have and visit section. I truly was stuffed that night with such greatness of delicious food here at Chatz that never fail me at all . . . . . . . . . . Sidney Kan loves them all! :) so satisfying !
