My second Ramadhan tasting was at Tropicana Golf and Country Resort. It was so superbly prepared with refine detailing. I was salivating over what I saw, the whole roasted lamb at play sevred with nasi briyani, juicy beef satay while succulent chicken satays were firing at a blast fumed my dining seating area with such pleasure. Grilling was on the show too, pretty huge attractive squid rings, a big grilled fish was paraded too.

There a row of “ulams” fresh greens such as ulam raja, ulam pegaga, petai, jering, kacang botol, daun selum, daun selasih, annd many more, just work perfectly over some local dippings like sambal belacan, tempoyak, cencaluk, sambal tumbuk ikan bilis or even cut bird chillies with dark soy sauce. What a striking appetite, and that night there was their soup “gear box” lamb, beef bone and tendon soup which was terrificly delicious. Next to it was three huge wok filled with awesome “gulai kawah” goodies such as fish head curry, beef curry and “asam pedas” hot and sour. Truly spetecular.

That night there were a local group of 5 piece “Ghazal” band perfoming tradisional Malay songs. The sittings were streched from The Palm Coffee House, Main Lounge, Golfers’ Terrace to the Golfers’ Lounge. My opinion the whole atmosphere was truly had a great touch of “kampong” nostalgia infused and surrounded with “live stall” buffet counters.

Everywhere was filled and packed with food, the local sweet was truly attractive that night. Youi can easily spotted the “bubur” sweet porridge and “pengat”. “Lepat pisang”, “pengat labu”, “kuih koci”, “tepung bungkus” and “tepung pelita”. The resort’s Executive Chef Chef Roslan Hamid and his team put out a fabulous spread of delicious ramadhan buffet that night. So many to choice, so deliciously executed. . . . . . . . . . . enjoyed, Sidney Kan
