During the month of Ramadan, the culinary crew of Taman Sari Brasserie at Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur are getting the heat on in preparing wide array of “kampong” dishes and I got to taste some of them earlier, lucky me.

For this year, Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur breaks fast with an extensive range of “kampong” and fusion style Ramadan menu, which is Halal certified by Jakim, such as Masak Lemak Daging Salai, Kambing Kuzi, Indian Fish Curry, Assam Pedas Ikan Mayung with condiments, traditional glutinous rice with 6 types of Rendang and Serunding, Bihun Utara, Bakso, Soto Ayam and many more

According to Chef Fathurazzi, Executive Chef, “Every year, we chefs are missing on the privilege of balik kampong as it’s during these seasons that we are most busy.”

“As a chef in a hotel, this has become more like a home to us and the bonding among other associates have made us even closer than our own family. Hence, we tend to make the best of where we are and create a fun and family-like environment for all,” he said.

Fathurazzi further adds, “Cooking is our passion and as we watch people walk in with their families, enjoying the food that we’ve cooked, the feeling is just exhilarating. And to us, Ramadan is a time that reminds us not only of doing good deeds but also having to make others happy. Seeing them being happy is a blessing to us as it’s like serving our own family with good food. Furthermore, during this time, it’s also about a celebration of close family bonding and friendship.”
