Its funny how I fall for them and how my taste changes with them. For me I started with red nearly 15years ago, aged in oak is a must while a touch of vanilla would be perfect. While recalling to my stay in europe, visiting a bordeaux and sipping those labelled bottle was truly intrigged, it was a chance of a life time. A fabulous life style to die for. One day a sip of one white gold liquid had then turn my preferrance to medium white drinker and that’s my exposure to German wine.

Lately I had been attending quiet a few wine pairing refine dinners and this one was one of the most interesting one I ever come across with. The range of wine poured that night were just perfect to my pallete. It jived so well to my taste and liking. I just love smooth, tasty and full body wines while a touch of bitterness may not suits well to my liking. It was Xanadu Wine from the Margaret River, Australia that caught my attention.

The table setting at Senja was fabulous as always, with such a personal touch. Very classy. Having all the wines glasses marching on the table, my appetite for wine just flowered with such a desire. My nostrile was detecting the airy aroma of wine. My first sip was with pure delighted. It was the delicious pink peach Italian Canella Bellini. I just love this entrement drink, served chilled is a plus, Very refreshing and went very well with the canapes. Delicious. Ms Annie Lundin graced the night by introducing the Rathbone family that had expanded their portfolio ranging from Mount Langi Chiran, Parker Coonawarra Estate, Xanadu Margaret River and Yering Station. Then came Mr Glenn Goodall (the charming yet goodlooking renowned winemaker from Xanadu Margaret River), breifing us the wine. Xanadu Margaret River is one of the pioneering vineyards planter in 1077 located in the golden tirangle of the Boodjidup Valley. Its renowned for it’s Cabernet and now also making wavers for Chardonnay.

First highlight of the night was the amuse bouche of pan fried scallop topped over the squid ink pasta paired with Xanadu Sauvignon Blanc Semilion was burst flavour within myself. Just love the fruitiness smooth in taste. It was a great pairing to start off the dinner. Noticed myself craving for another excellent piece of scallop

Finely thin slices of carpacio salmon was breath taking. It had such a distinct taste but the Chardonnay had boosted it to another leevel in taste and the feel of the texture inside my mouth. Tummy delicious. The Chardonnay was citrusy yet creamy and left with a grilled nut in taste that truly brought out the flavour of the dish. Very distinctive combination and a very likeable Chardonnay.

I just adored the Creme di Funghi, it neverever disappointed me at anyime, just pure classic and went on so smoothly with Xanadu Reserve Chardonnay 2008. It was a powerful combination filled with my system with such an awesome after taste, just perfect. No harm having 3 glasses.

I just loved the fruitiness of this wine filled with berries. I was amazed that the bold step taken to pair it with a fish dish expecially the cod fish. It was truly a delightful taste and it was hard of not noticing it. A splendid idea to have this red with seafood dishes. A definitely apleasant and enjoyeable.

Lovely Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 a very fruitty well bodied red. Definitely a smoooth red to indulge over a relaxed atmosphere. It did cheer me up without any effort, so effortless. Lovely paired with the juicy soft lamb rack. Having a dozen stored at home is a must! :)

I may not be a sweet talker but I am defintely a dessert wine fan. I jus love the intensity sweetness of dessert wine and Xanadu Cane Cut Semillan Sauvignon had been added into my list. Having a slow sip can just put you into such a comfort while haiing the thrill over the tiramisu was defitely a sin and laced with lust. I can just knocked myself out by just clinging onto the whole bottle. wow! that’s definelty not myself, that’s how I released myself to pleasure.

FACES on That Night!

It was a night filled with load of awesome smooth wine and a line of delicious dishes that pampered me till I was totally speechless. Defintely Xanadu, any pick will definitely spoil you. It got to be one of the best wine tasted so far this year . . . . . . . . . . . . Sidney Kan
