I knew about “Nong & Jimmy”. A name not to be miss. Both are known for their simple yet terrific Thai cuisine. Well flying over with my car from Petaling Jaya to Taman Cempaka, Ampang can be a terrific drive over a quiet weekend evening. Well, I am sure you will be able to guess that I got that chance just over the weekend. I got myself a table for three over a sea of crowd at this open air hut concept restaurant.

Here they are famous for their authentic yet basic BBQ seafood ranging from very sizeable crab, crockles, squids and fish. The striking reddish orangy BBQ crabs were the hardess to resist. Huge and sexy. I can feel they were calling me to lust them and to taste them without any string attached. Just so divine. The BBQ was the first dish that I ordered. One kilogramme please.

First came to the table was the scrumptious Boneless Chicken Feet Thai Salad/”Kerabu. A must have dish on most every Thai restaurant. Cooked crunchy boneless chicken feet laced with heavile tasty sweet lime juice over sliced shallots, bird chillies, chopped coriander leaves, spring onion. It was good and went pretty well with some white rice. Delightfully to start with.

Playing with my tasting palate was this rich with taste, Steamed Seabass with Lime Juice. It was perfect! Concerntrated taste of rich lime juice infused the flavour of the seabass was just absolutely gorgeous. It was just like chasing the dragon! I just can’t helpong myself with spoon after spoon of those juicy sauce. The fish was fresh in taste and both just perfectly complimented each other. Definitely a perfect match, A fabulous dish! Fantastic!

Freshly BBQ sliced squid came swiftly to the table with accompanied sweet red Thai chilli sauce. It was nice, fresh and not too rubbery in taste. Good texture with such a refreshing taste. Not too bad. :)

Having to see what came to table was a breath taking. A Huge abd a medium sized freshly BBQ crabs. There were roe on the shells, not a lot but truly comfortable. Very refreshing sweet taste with a hint of smoky taste. It was encompassed with such awesome natural taste, no marination, just straight into the BBQ pit. To have a deicous BBQ crabs, the crabs must be fresh. Here they were really fresh! I was so into it that I had the whole large crab to myself.

Truly a fabulous discovery at Nong & Jimmy. If you are looking for an affordable and gorgeous seafood dishes, this is a great place to start off with! . . . . . .. . . . I was BBQ with pleasure, Sidney Kan

    i think this is the place my friend keep recommending but everytime we passed by it’s so crowded that we decided somewhere else to eat..
