Ipoh is famous for limestone hills and natural caves. Even the beauties here are often associated with the purity water that they drink in Ipoh. One place in Ipoh had intrigged me on my recent visit. It was the Banjaran Hotspring Retreat located at Tambun, Ipoh.
It was an escape to a haven f relaxation and juvenation, Malaysia’s first integrated luxury wellness and spa nestled admist at a natural landscape of magnificient limestone hills, natural caves, pristine waterfalls, tropical jungle and natural geochemical hot springs that will capture your heart immediately.

There were about 25 luxurious villas that were camouflaged against a beautiful canvas of the tropical jungle and lake. It was breath taking scenery. I was excited when I was brief about the various type of wellness experience available at the Banjaran.

As I checked into one of the villas, it was truly exclusively beautiful. The word pampering just kept buzzing in my mind. The sea blue tiled private villa swimming pool was so gorgeous, dipping into it is a must. There was also a private jacuzzi hidden behind the bathroom. The bedroom was truly spacious and comfy.

The Pomelo

Next The Pomelo, the restaurant and a name acquired from a fruit that Tambun, Ipoh is famous for. It is like a large grapefruit but it is refreshing light, sweet and juicy. At the Pomelo you will defitely be pampered with spa cuisine which can be light and healthy comprising the flavours of organic fruits, vegetables, fresh seafood and premium poultry.

At Banjaran during the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival month you will able to indulge the creation of Executive Chef Rolf Jaeggi. Here, Chef Rolf selects the freshest organicfruits and vegetables as well as imported and local premium fresh seafood and poluty to create the natural flavour to enhance his creations. I was informed that each carefully prepared meal is designed to supply the body with essential nutrients.

The White and Red Pomelo with Mixed Shrimp was placed infront of me and I was drooling on the spot. Having to forked in slowly I could see those well orchestrated layering of juicy shrimps and scallops toasted over with lemony, flavourful herbs infused and olive oil. Having it flushed over sweet white and sour red pomelo was a pleasant surprise. Chef topped the dish with light cream and a generous chuck of refined salad. Lovely it was.

Grilled Scallop on Lemongrass Foam accompained the previous dish. Fresh chunk of scallops were used and grilled with perfection and enchance with light flavoured lemongrass foam. A total elite experience of taste. It was marvellous.

I had this delicous Pomelo Mojito Mocktail a mixture with blended with pomelo and mints over lemonade and sugar syrup. This can be truly addictive. It was good.

The Grilled Black Cod Fish with Four-Bean, Clam Juice and Dried Beef Bacon left me speechless. It was truly made specially for me that afternoon. :) A huge chunk of skinless cod was handled with care over the grill with it’s skin was skinpy done to perfection. The braised four beans with enfused dried beef bacon and clam juice enrich the taste of the cod. Booth combination went very well. Light with great texture and taste. I found the way the skin was prepared too was truly creative, it was like having a thin slice of crispy salted fish. Marvellous!

Then we proceed into forking the Roasted Lamb Loin Coated with Macadamia Nut served with Spinach and Carrot Terri. The lamb loin was roasted well at a pink texture and not overly cooked. Soft and tenderly juicy while having ti with macademia nut was exclusive delicious. It left with a soft nutty taste. It was really good. The spinach and carrot was finely blended and dried roasted but I rather prefer to have a whole boiled carrots instead. :) It seems like having baby food but it was tastily done.

To end the day we had a terrific dessert. We were definitely being well pampered as this dessert tells everything. It was such luxurious dessert. A had chocolate casing to hold the light mascarpone infused with pomelo and topped with sweet tomato strawberry and aged balsamic. I felt so good! :)

    A great place to be for relax. I would choose this place rather than Club Med for a healthy retreat.

    Lucky you! This retreat looks so peaceful and relaxing. It would be so nice to be pampered in a place like this, sigh, if only I am rich!!
