Berbuka Puasa at Istana Bambu Hulu Kelang – Ampang

1 Entrance

Coming out form the end exit of the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE), I can’t help of not noticing the newly constructed bamboo cladded building on my left. It was truly an eye catching structure. It was called the “Istana Bambu”.

The detailing of the exterior and interior of this restaurant truly captured my heart. It was beautiful constructed. Even the walkway heading towards the pavilion was cleverly crafted out from bamboo strips. The both sides along the walkway laid a man made shallow pond came with a “padi” planting, a gorgeous setting. I felt like re-living out on a kampong scene.

The pavilion was filled with beautifully crafted finishing bamboo tables and chairs while white organza like drippings were put into play. It was elegant. Beside the pavilion, there were also a host of bamboo huts being erected specially for dining and we opted dining there. The floor was elevated two feet higher from the ground sitting on stilt supports. It was rather adventurous. Sitting on the floor having our legs crossed was truly a great experience and my mum liked it. It was well thought as the hut was equipped with built-in fan and drippings. Full of privacy assured.

It was amazing to find a combination of Chinese and Malay cuisine in their restaurant menu. Mum did the ordering while we were busy sipping into our thirsty crunching chilled fresh coconut water. Sitting inside the hut was truly a relaxing therapy.
