THE WOK CAFE Penang Hawker Food & Nyonya Cuisine – Kota Damansara Best

THE HAWKER FARE

The chinese curry noodle served in Penang is truly authentic indeed and can’t be found anyway outside the Island itself, it has it’s own identity of itself but can be found here too. A handful of homemade chilly paste cooked in long brewed broth togehter with coconut milk is the secret of the curry soup. Having this served with toppings like dried bencurd, cockles and squid truly enhance the dish perfection!

The first to arrived was their signature dish and Penang most famous for, The Hokkien Mee (Prawn Noodle). A full flavoured prawn broth is used to grace the noodle topped with sc[liced hardboiled egg, shrimps, sliced meat and greens. The bowl of noodle tasted as expected, deliciously prepared and very refined, I don’t mind having another bowl myself.

Char Koay Teow or stir fried fresh rice noodle is a hawker dish where everyone would rave about when they are in Penang. The Char Koay Teow served here too, match the Penang standard: tasty, fresh and great flavour of the burning wok!

Next down to the runway was the Hokkien Char, stir friend noodle with dark cramelised sauce where I find it a bit different from the KL version. Here it was a bit wet compared to KL’s dried version.Tasty but I wonder how would it be if it was done drier. :)

Chee Cheong Fun (steamed rolled flat fresh rice noodle) with dark caramelised prawn sauce is truely a Penang’s sgnature dish and was done just perfectly here to my liking! Just awesome, need not have to eat them in Penang, just have it here!
